Hypocrisy Now

I came across an article this morning that juxtaposes two issues of concern right now -- the fight for democracy going on in Arabic countries for, among other things, the right to free speech and the worrying state of affairs in North America where we supposedly have this right, and the right to peaceful protest, but where in recent years government bullies have been abrogating this right, right before our eyes, and not many people are saying much about it.

Have we become so desensitised to these incursions, or just so intimidated by all the bruited-about threats to security and terrorists-under-every-bed that it's now okay for big goons to manhandle elder protesters like Ray McGovern, who simply stood quietly and turned his back on Hillary Clinton during a speech where she was, so ironically, condemning repression of free speech against protesters, but in the Middle East?

Is she the Queen now?

Happy Valentine's Day!

To all who follow their hearts, wherever they lead, a most happy day to you!

This little Fibrous Begonia blooms bravely on my mother's windowsill in the midst of winter.
